Majaya Powell
DesignerFirmly believes that intentional design starts with understanding why we create in the first place.
Originally from Oklahoma, Majaya moved to Philadelphia at 17 and found her calling in architectural design. She was drawn to Union’s mission-driven approach and shares the firm’s commitment to designing spaces that benefit both people and the planet. She is particularly passionate about circular design principles—creating buildings that can evolve, adapt, and be deconstructed thoughtfully rather than demolished wastefully.
Beyond her professional work, Majaya is dedicated to design education and has taught through DesignPhiladelphia to help cultivate the next generation of designers. When she’s away from the studio, she can be found photographing nature, creating content, or working with her hands—whether crocheting, making jewelry, or crafting collages and paintings.
Majaya earned her Bachelor of Science in Architectural Design and an Interior Design Certificate from Temple University.
