Esteban Salazar
DesignerGuided by the principle that housing must support identity, belonging, and community.
Esteban grew up in New England as a first-generation Colombian American, where early experiences in suburban Connecticut raised questions about how places foster (or fail to foster) a sense of identity and community. That curiosity developed into a passion for housing and neighborhood form—shaped first by an awareness of cohesive community life at the Loomis Chaffee School, then formalized through architectural study at the University of Notre Dame, and ultimately ignited by a year in Rome.
Since then, Esteban has focused on housing production and neighborhood design, from apprenticing at Moule & Polyzoides in Pasadena to pursuing graduate studies at UC Berkeley. He holds a Bachelor of Architecture and a Minor in Resiliency and Sustainability from the University of Notre Dame, and a Master of Advanced Architectural Design from the University of California, Berkeley.
Outside of practice, Esteban enjoys woodworking, sailing, surfing, and skiing. He is also looking forward to rekindling connections in New England with family and friends as he transitions back from the West Coast.
