2 Hammett Court is a transformative affordable housing development located in the heart of Jamestown’s walkable village center. Developed through a partnership between Looking Upwards and SWAP, Inc., the project brings 12 fully accessible apartments to a high-opportunity location steps from local amenities.
The building is a model of inclusive design, supporting independent living for individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities. Each unit incorporates universal design principles and can be tailored with specific features to meet resident needs—from wheelchair-friendly kitchens to smart-home adaptations.
By converting a previously deteriorated building into housing, 2 Hammett Court addresses both the need for affordable homes and the importance of community integration. The dramatic transformation involved lifting the entire structure to construct a new foundation beneath part of it—unlocking the potential of the existing basement for office and tenant amenity space. This pilot project, supported by state and federal ARPA funds, highlights the potential of small-scale infill to deliver deeply impactful housing solutions.
