Land Secured! ‘Adam’s Way’ Moves Forward
The vision for The Next Step Program’s ‘Adams Way’ moves a little closer to becoming real as the closure on a property has been made.
Adam’s Way is a first-of-its-kind inclusive housing community in Doylestown, Bucks County PA. Named in honor of Adam Sklar, a beloved participant in The Next Step Programs who lived with Prader-Willi Syndrome, the project embodies the values of integration, independence, everyday life, and belonging that defined his life—his kindness, his ability to form meaningful connections, and the way he brought people together.
In February 2026, the property closed. The 50,000 square foot mixed-use parcel in the heart of Doylestown—with approximately 40 residential units, ground-floor marketplace and community space, situated in a walkable, transit-connected location—is now secured. The project addresses a critical shortage of affordable, integrated housing for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
The community has been at the center of this work from the start. Families, participants, and supporters gathered to help shape the building during community programming sessions. Their voices are part of what comes next. Union Studio and The Next Step Programs move forward together, grounded in what the community envisions: spaces for meaningful work, for independence, for belonging—where people with and without disabilities live side by side.
With the land secured, the vision moves into form!
