Meshacket Commons Opens its Doors!
With a ceremonial cutting of the ribbon, 38 Meshacket Road in Edgartown, an affordable living community, has officially opened! The project has transformed over six acres into a compact, community-oriented neighborhood with 36 rental units, four ownership homes, and a central shared facility, the Mark Hess Community Center.
Through a collaboration between Island Housing Trust, Affirmative Investments, The Town of Edgartown, and designed by Union Studio, Meshacket Commons addresses a critical housing shortage that has forced long time residents and essential workers off the island. This new community will continue to strengthen the town’s long term housing stability in a market where rising costs increasingly threaten the ability of local residents to remain on the island.
