Northend Home Ownership

We’re excited to have kicked off initial site planning stages for Northend Home Ownership in Newport, Rhode Island – a project that introduces the first ownership opportunities to the Park Holm development.

Built as naval housing during the 1930s and 40s, the neighborhood has been completely transformed in recent years into the Park Holm community, offering high-quality affordable rental housing. This comprehensive redevelopment has significantly revitalized Newport’s formerly underserved north end and created  a vibrant community where events and gatherings now flourish – activities previously unseen in this area.

Our current phase, located on 8.4 acres at Hillside and Maple Avenues represents an innovative advancement to the community’s affordable housing strategy. The project features 50 homeownership units designed around a land trust concept where residents purchase their homes while the land remains under housing authority ownership.

We are currently crafting master plan options with a range of diverse housing types, focusing on connecting with the historic street patterns and working with the site’s sloped terrain. Ultimately, we’re aiming to make a meaningful contribution to Park Holm’s positive trajectory and sustain the momentum of this neighborhood renaissance.
