Introducing: Cape Cod Catalog of Dwellings

Helping Cape Cod address its housing challenges with 15 pre-designed cottage, ADU, and multi-family plans.

Union, together with Flintlock LAB and Kronberg Urbanists + Architects, is pleased to share the Cape Cod Catalog of Dwellings, a new resource created to help address the region’s critical housing shortage. This catalog provides a set of pre-approved housing plans designed specifically for Cape Cod, offering communities tools to thoughtfully and efficiently create new housing while respecting the region’s historic character.

The catalog is the result of a multi-year effort, shaped by technical research, community feedback, and a deep understanding of Cape Cod’s unique context. It is built around the idea that affordable, attainable housing does not need to come at the expense of quality design or the cherished character of the Cape’s villages and landscapes.

With a focus on smaller, more flexible housing options — often referred to as “missing middle” housing — the catalog offers plans that can be used by towns, homeowners, and builders alike. These designs streamline the permitting process, lower development costs, and help communities provide much-needed housing for year-round residents, essential workers, and future generations.

Through this work, Union and our collaborators hope to support communities across Cape Cod in expanding housing options while strengthening the social and economic resilience of the region.
