Following our community resiliency project with the Cape Cod Commission in communities across the Cape, we compiled a report that summarizes the community outreach effort we undertook. Inspired by our initial project, additional research was completed as part of our United in Design scholarship. The completed report pulls from both illustrative and built projects in the region.
The report provides context on the history of the region, describes the housing crisis, and how it happened, and discusses potential solutions for addressing affordability in a community burdened by its seasonal economy. Though regional in its discussion, the tool can be used to aid discussions with any town, developer, and agency about development strategies to alleviate housing shortages in a meaningful and resilient way.
