Supporting the Design Community: Union’s Commitment to RIMiAD
In 2026, Union team members continue to serve on the executive steering committee, donate design services, and participate actively in Rhode Island's growing minority design community
Rhode Island Minorities in Architecture & Design (RIMiAD) was founded in November 2022 to create a space for networking and community-building among designers from underrepresented groups. The organization hosts bi-monthly meetups at minority-owned businesses across the state, bringing professionals and college students together to facilitate networking and community development. In 2024 the group launched an inaugural mentorship program and a workshop on stress.
In 2026, Union continues to be active in this work. Union team members serve on RIMIAD’s executive steering committee—their names appear on the organization’s website among those shaping the group’s direction and priorities. A member of Union’s marketing team donates graphic design and communications support, keeping the organization’s voice clear and its reach growing. Union team members attend the meetups regularly, participating in the community conversations and connections that are at the heart of RIMIAD’s mission.
RIMIAD’s mission is to support and promote diversity and inclusion in the architecture and design fields; and to foster a community of individuals committed to building each other up. The organization believes that established designers and allies must dedicate themselves to opening pathways into the industry.
Designers and those working in design-adjacent fields are also encouraged to attend RIMiAD’s bi-monthly meetups to connect with peers and engage with the local design community. For more information and to stay up to date on events, follow RIMiAD on Instagram.
