Our staff members are all committed students of the accumulated wisdom of history as it is expressed in traditional architecture and urban design. Our passion for building strong communities starts here in our studio, among our friends and colleagues.
Vada brings a unique skill set to her position as Architectural Designer and Director of Technology. Combining her years of design experience with her prior time in the software industry, she fills a valuable role on our project teams by contributing to all phases of the architectural process while overseeing our technology strategy and implementation. Her volunteer work adds another layer of experience: she is a past president of the Rhode Island Chapter of the American Institute of Architects, and she is currently President of AIA New England Regional Council. Vada holds a Master of Architecture from the Rhode Island School of Design and a Bachelor of Arts in Physics from Bryn Mawr College.
Hometown: Rehoboth, MA
Guilty Pleasure: Single-malt scotch, and there is no guilt involved.
Favorite piece of art/music/writing: I’m not one for favorites, but “Why I Am Not a Painter” by Frank O’Hara has always made me smile. For me, it is a perfect description of the creative process no matter the medium.
Favorite RI oddity: Accents! I love that you can tell what town people are from by how they speak.
On a Sunday afternoon you will likely find me: …with my husband, Chris, doing anything from kayaking in Narragansett Bay to sitting at a café working on a crossword puzzle. We’re always up for whatever opportunity the day sends our way.
A word to the wise: Remember that what you learn through the journey is the most important part of any accomplishment.
