Our staff members are all committed students of the accumulated wisdom of history as it is expressed in traditional architecture and urban design. Our passion for building strong communities starts here in our studio, among our friends and colleagues.
Kara received her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Architecture with a minor in visual arts from Roger Williams University in May of 2010. At Union Studio she contributes to multiple architectural project teams, contributing to construction administration, interior FF&E packages, and consultant coordination. She recently served as the job captain for the new, 24,000 sf Tiverton Library where she helped manage the sustainability checklist and extensive interior design details. Prior to joining Union Studio, Kara interned for a healthcare design firm in Maryland and she worked as a consultant to a Rhode Island based architectural firm focused on residential projects.
Hometown: Gaithersburg, Maryland
Guilty Pleasure: Sneaking peaks at other people’s homes at night when they are all lit up. Just to look at interiors, I swear.
Pivotal childhood memory: Perfecting my sketches of cube shapes in math class while I should have been paying attention to how you actually calculate the volume of the cube.
Favorite piece of art/music/writing: Mid-century furniture
On a Sunday afternoon you will likely find me: Hunting for treasures in consignment shops and antique markets.
