Kaitlin DeGregorio

Architectural Designer

kaitlin@unionstudioarch.com

Katie joined Union Studio in 2017 as an architectural designer. Her diverse background includes serving as the studio manager for O&G Studio, a boutique furniture design studio with a strong craftsman influence; developing construction documents and interior renderings for a Rhode Island-based Design-Build company; and teaching high school students how to create community spaces in vacant lots in Dorchester, MA. She studied abroad in both Buenos Aires, Argentina and Florence, Italy.

Katie earned her Master of Architecture and a Bachelor of Science with a minor in Anthropology/Sociology and Digital Media from Roger Williams University.

Hometown: North Salem, NY

Favorite place and why: Switzerland. I love mountains, especially snowy ones, and they have the most beautiful ones I have ever seen. The skiing isn’t so bad either! I occasionally escape to New Hampshire or Vermont just to be around changes of elevation and walk up some hills.

Pivotal childhood memory: Climbing the tree outside my house in my communion dress. To this day I still feel at home in nature and will try to climb any tree within reach (within reason).

Favorite piece of art/music/writing: Rembrandt’s Mother Reading (c.1629) by Rembrandt. The way the light makes the pages of her book glow and illuminates her textured face. She has a wizened, calm demeanor and seems to forever have a thirst for knowledge.

On a Sunday afternoon you will likely find me: … outside. I try not to waste any moment of day light and go outside whenever possible.

A word to the wise: “In the universe, there are things that are known, and things that are unknown, and in-between, there are doors” ~ William Blake
