Our staff members are all committed students of the accumulated wisdom of history as it is expressed in traditional architecture and urban design. Our passion for building strong communities starts here in our studio, among our friends and colleagues.
Brendan joined Union Studio in the spring of 2010 after completing both his Bachelors and his Masters of Architecture at Judson University. While at Judson, he participated in the inaugural design studio of the Traditional Architecture and Urbanism concentration. Brendan and his classmates were proud to help establish the program for future classes to study traditional architecture and town planning principles. He has a broad skill set which he applies to many of Union Studio’s projects in the form of precedent research, construction document development, and concept visualization. Prior to joining our team, Brendan worked for Urban Design Associates in Pittsburgh.
Hometown: Wheaton, Illinois
Favorite place and why: Lancaster County, PA. I have 300 years of family history there and always feel drawn to settle and live there, despite never having done so.
Guilty Pleasure: Baking things and then eating them before I can share with anyone else.
Pivotal childhood memory: Looking at buildings and then wanting to draw them and figure out how they are put together (hence my love of Legos).
On a Sunday afternoon you will likely find me: Gardening, but really that just means pulling weeds.
Favorite moment in architectural history: When people realized how horribly building and community design had been affected by access to cheap energy and then decided to start to build intelligently again.
