NEW RESIDENTIAL COMMUNITY BREAKS GROUND IN DEVENS, MA
First Residents to Move into Sustainable Homes in Spring 2016
(Devens, MA – October 22, 2015) – Emerson Green is a new residential neighborhood located in Devens, Massachusetts. The first phase, which broke ground in mid-October 2015, features 18 homes. Future construction will bring the total of homes in the development to 124. Sales of the homes will begin on November 7 and the first residents are expected to move into their new homes in Spring 2016.
Emerson Green has been designed to reflect the principles of smart, connected community living through pedestrian-friendly streets, ample green space, and proximity to hiking trails, ponds, and other recreational amenities. With a mixture of single-family homes ranging from approximately 1,500 square feet (sf) to 1,930 sf, and duplexes just under 1,400 sf, Emerson Green is designed attract a wide range of residents – from first-time homebuyers and empty nesters to new families and single professionals. The variety of unit sizes and price points (starting at $339K) will make for an inclusive community that welcomes individuals from a diversity of backgrounds and lifestyles.
Emerson Green is the first major new residential development to be built in Devens, a former Army base that MassDevelopment, the state’s finance and development authority, has redeveloped as a mixed-use community and regional economic hub. School-aged children living in Emerson Green can attend the Town of Harvard’s highly rated public school system, or the Parker Charter School in Devens. Nearby employers include a growing list of companies such as Bristol-Myers Squibb, Johnson Matthey Pharma Services, Nypro, and New England Studios.
Emerson Green is located two miles north of Route 2 and offers easy access to Route 495. Residents can be in downtown Boston within an hour. The restaurants, museums, and shopping opportunities found in Leominster, Concord, and Worcester are less than 30 minutes away. Emerson Green is also conveniently located less than two miles from the recently upgraded Fitchburg-South Acton Commuter Rail line.
Emerson Green’s development team of NOW Communities and Union Studio Architecture & Community Design are recognized experts in the creation of new traditional communities that offer exemplary sustainable design features. The team has received multiple national awards including the National Association of Homebuilders’ “Community of the Year,” Builder Magazine’s “Project of the Year,” and Professional Builder Magazine’s “Project of the Year.” The team completed the “Net Zero possible” Concord Riverwalk community in West Concord, MA in 2013.
The Knox Real Estate team from William Raveis Real Estate will serve as the sales team for the project. A grand opening reception is scheduled from 11am to 3pm on both November 7thand 8th at 97 Grant Road in Devens.
June 25, 2015
On June 18th, the studio closed its doors for a day and headed down to URI’s Alton Jones Campus for a firm-wide strategy session with afternoon activities. Our working sessions focused on a deep-dive into Union Studio’s mission and vision for the future, with active input about areas on which we need to focus to keep the firm operating at the highest levels of both design quality and firm culture.
But honestly, the photos of our activities are more fun than the photos of us talking…
Though she might try, Emily won’t forget this:
Don, our fearless leader, took no prisoners in noodle jousting:
There was salsa dancing:
An office re-enactment:
Some kind of mock recorder playing session, in which Ian appears to be rocking a solo:
The working session:
A sorry attempt at a pyramid, with Angela bravely stepping up to apex position:
And just an all-around nice Union Studio group photo at the end of the day:
Thanks to the great staff at the Alton Jones Campus for taking care of us! A special shout-out to Dee LaMay, who facilitated our afternoon activities in a manner that was not annoying — and admittedly quite fun.
